Privacy Policy
This policy explains how ADHD Choice handles the information you provide.
The contact form is not open yet
What we collect
If you send us a message we collect exactly what you type into the form, and nothing else about you. That is:
- Your name and your email address.
- A phone number, only if you choose to give one. It is an optional field.
- The message itself, if you write one. That field is optional too.
That is the whole list, and it used to be longer. The form previously asked who you were enquiring about, where you were up to in the assessment pathway, and whether you were registered with a GP in England. Tied to your name and your email, those answers were information about your health, which UK data protection law treats as a special category needing stronger protection and a stronger form of consent than pressing a button. They were there to match people to assessment providers. This site does not do that and is not going to, so the questions had no purpose and have been removed. We would rather collect nothing than hold health information we have no use for.
So please do not put clinical details in the message either. We do not ask for health records or clinical documents, we cannot act on them, and you should not send them through this form.
Why we are allowed to hold it, and on what basis
We rely on your consent, and on nothing else. You give it by choosing to fill in and send the form; you are not required to contact us for any reason and nothing on this site is withheld if you do not. That consent is limited to the single purpose of replying to you. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing team@adhdchoice.co.uk, and withdrawing it does not affect anything we did with the information before you asked.
Consent given by sending the form is an adequate basis for a name, an email address and a message, which is all the form now asks for. It would not have been an adequate basis for the health questions the form used to ask, and that is one of the reasons those questions are gone rather than reworded. While the form is closed there is nothing to consent to in any case, because nothing is sent and nothing is stored.
How we use it
We use it to reply to you, and to keep a record of any correction we made to this site because of what you told us. We do not sell your information, we do not use it to advertise to you, and we do not pass it to an assessment provider, an integrated care board or the NHS. We are an independent information site with no role in your care and no ability to refer you, chase a referral or look up a waiting list.
Who else handles it
When the form is turned on, a submission is received by a third party form-handling service acting on our instructions and is then delivered to us by email. That service processes the message only to deliver it and is not permitted to use it for anything of its own. Our email is handled by a commercial email provider in the ordinary way. Those two, and nobody else, see what you send.
How long we keep it
We keep a message for as long as it takes to answer it, and where it led to a correction on the site we keep a note of that correction so the change is traceable. If you want your message deleted, ask and we will delete it.
Your rights, and how to complain
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or withdraw your consent. Email team@adhdchoice.co.uk and we will action it. If you are not satisfied with how we handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Analytics
We use privacy-focused analytics that count page views without identifying individual visitors and without tracking anyone across other websites. It sets no advertising cookie and builds no profile of you.
